RESEARCH CENTRE

The PEM Research Centre, based in ATU Sligo provides Industry-focused research and development of precision engineering, manufacturing and materials technologies and innovation. We work with companies at all stages of their research and innovation journey and across the full spectrum of Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs).

Our aim at The PEM Research Centre is to:

  • To service the needs of industry – working with companies to provide solutions to engineering, manufacturing, and technical problems across their value chain.

  • To contribute to the technical and academic body of knowledge within the Precision Engineering & Manufacturing sector, and to transfer that knowledge to Industry

PEM research, development & innovation

The PEM research, development & innovation capabilities provide industry with a unique RD&I support offering in precision engineering, manufacturing, and materials testing (research), which is underpinned by our experience and the expertise of our Principal Investigators, all who have individually achieved notable research achievements through engagement with industry.

I-Form & NWCAM

In addition, the PEM Research Centre has significantly developed its profile and reputation over the last 5 years both Nationally and Internationally in advanced manufacturing and materials research. This is clearly demonstrated by our current position as we have forged strategic collaborations with several significant research projects and national centre initiatives such as I-Form Research Centre for Advanced Manufacturing funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), The North West Centre for Advanced Manufacturing – NWCAM funded by Interreg, PEM Technology Gateway funded by Enterprise Ireland and EU-PANI-WATER project funded by Horizon 2020, to further strengthen our R&D support for industry.
